Although art is often interpreted as a creative outlet, to me it can be defined as our perception of the world around us. It is the ability to transform something from everyday life into a message or idea that conveys a particular feeling to its interpreter.
In a three-floor antique shop, I was immediately captivated by a display of lamps. I was fascinated by the light in the room. Similar to people, lamps can bring clarity, warmth, and comfort simply by being present. The complexity of the stained glass drew me in, serving as an extended metaphor for the way each individual has their own personality, values, and experiences.
Their “light” isn’t limited to simplicity; it allows the individual to reveal their character. This character colors the space a person inhabits in a way that is uniquely their own. Instead of being just “the light,” they become the kind of light that transforms the room, making ordinary spaces feel special.
